East Arm: The Gateway to the North

East Arm is one of the five unincorporated areas in Darwin and it is located on the Darwin Rates Act Area land. You can reach East Arm by train from Alice Springs to Darwin Railway Station, and by bus from Darwin Central Business District to The Ghan Train Terminal. Its neighbouring suburbs are: Berrimah to the north and Wishart and Tivendale to the East. The suburb is home to the East Arm Wharf, which was opened in 2000 and is the largest industrial port on Australia’s north coast with 754 metres of wharf line. It can accept vessels of up to 80,000 tonnes and consists a bulk liquids berth, a common user facility, a container space and a bulk loading berth. You don’t have to worry about the suburb being overcrowded because it has a population of approximately 430 people living in the area.

In terms of business and development within the area, the East Arm Logistics Precinct is one of the fastest growing industrial precincts in the Northern Territory, allowing businesses to grow and capitalise on future projects in the region. Hamuara Road has already been completed, offering a strategic location for commercial and industrial enterprises. The site is ideally suited to companies that are interested in the Northern Territory’s growing marine and fishing industries. Another excellent thing about East Arm is that there are various plots of land for sale and for lease depending on the size and use you have in mind. The Land Development Corporation in the suburb also facilitates residential development to increase the range of housing options within the area. As East Arm continues to develop, future plans for this part of Darwin will allow for a larger precinct with services for both the commercial and industrial sectors. Overall, East Arm’s strategic location – close to the port, rail and roads – will give you an advantage if you’re seeking both residential and business opportunities.
